SRINAGAR: A Sikh man, identified as Simranjeet Singh, has been killed by unidentified assailants in the township of Tral, Kashmir.
Simranjeet Singh was critically injured in the attack and was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to a police spokesperson, the assailants fired at Simranjeet Singh, son of Nanak Singh, when he was returning from Diver in Tral. The spokesman stated:
“Singh received injuries in his abdomen and chest in the attack… Immediately, the whole area was cordoned off by the security forces. Singh was shifted to the Sub District Hospital in Tral from where he was referred to SMHS hospital, Srinagar, for further treatment. Later, he succumbed to his injuries.”
Simranjeet Singh (pictured below) was a resident of Khasi Pora Tral and is survived by his mother, brother and sister.
His brother was recently elected as Sarpanch in the recently held Panchayat elections.
As per locals, hundreds of Muslims visited his house to offer their condolences to the bereaved family.
