BRITISH COLUMBIA: The Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh Temple in Richmond has demonstrated their commitment and service to community with a transformational gift of $1.3 million in support of a new Acute Care Tower at Richmond Hospital.

Dr. Aleco Alexiadis, Co-Senior Medical Director, Richmond Hospital stated:

“We thank all of the members of the temple for being champions for the new Acute Care Tower, bringing the future of local health care one step closer to us all”

A new Acute Care Tower will allow the optimal care for patients that physicians and surgeons hope for – care that ensures dignity and respect in a new facility that’s innovative and designed to meet the needs of the rapidly growing number of seniors requiring complex care in Richmond.”

Spokesman and Gurdwara member Gary S. Berar stated:

We all rely on our local hospital during our days on this earth. It’s a common need that unites us all”

“A tenet of our Gursikh faith is selfless service to improve the community for the benefit and prosperity of all. It is our sincere hope that our Temple’s donation towards a new Acute Care Tower for Richmond will inspire others to join us to improve local health care for everyone.”

Natalie Meixner, President and CEO, Richmond Hospital Foundation stated:

“Today we are honoured to witness the generosity of an inclusive community with deep roots in Richmond, committed to improving the health of all,”

Richmond Hospital required a new Acute Care Tower to replace the original hospital tower, which opened in 1966. Last year on March 29, the Province announced the launch of the Business Plan by Vancouver Coastal Health, which will determine the size and scope of the new facility as well as the cost.
